Does “Pravovyi Lider” provide an initial consultation free of charge, and how can I get it?
Yes. The initial consultation is free; it helps us assess your situation and outline a preliminary strategy. To book it, simply fill out the form on our website or give us a call — our administrator will offer a time that’s convenient for you.
How can I become a client of your law firm?

Do you work only in Kyiv, or do you provide assistance throughout Ukraine (remotely)?

How long will I have to wait for a lawyer’s response after contacting you?
During business hours we usually reply within 5–10 minutes; requests submitted after 21:00 are answered the following morning.

Who is entitled to a deferment from conscription during mobilisation, and how can it be arranged?
A deferment may be granted to university and postgraduate students, parents of three or more children, persons with disabilities of groups I–II, guardians of incapacitated persons, employees of “critical infrastructure” and specialists who have been officially reserved (броньовані). To obtain a deferment, you must submit the relevant documents to the Territorial Recruitment Centre (the former military commissariat) or via the Diia app by uploading scanned copies of your supporting documents; a decision is usually made within 10 working days.
What documents are required to obtain a mobilisation deferment?
- passport and taxpayer identification code;
- military registration document (draft card / military ID);
- supporting certificates (confirming studies, disability, family composition, employment-based deferment, etc.);
- a written application addressed to the head of the Territorial Recruitment and Social Support Centre (TCC and SPC).
How can I appeal the decision of the Military Medical Commission (MMC) if I was found fit for service but have health issues?
- Within 5 days, submit a complaint to a higher-level MMC (regional or central).
- Attach any new medical reports or test results.
- If the decision is not changed, file a claim with the administrative court (you have 30 days from the date you received the MMC conclusion).
On what grounds can you be discharged from military service early?
Early discharge is possible due to health conditions, family circumstances (caring for dependants who are unable to work), disbandment or reorganisation of the military unit, as well as after the end of the special period for mobilised soldiers under Article 26 of the Law of Ukraine “On Military Duty and Military Service”.
What social benefits and payments are available to a service member or their family?
- monthly pay starting from 20,100 UAH, plus additional allowances for combat duty;
- a one-time financial payment in case of injury or death, ranging from 100,000 UAH per month of service to a lump sum of up to 15,000,000 UAH;
- benefits for utilities, free public transport, and priority access to medical care;
- eligibility to be placed on the housing waiting list;
- priority access to land plots for various needs;
- preferential loans and compensation for rental housing.
How can I officially file for divorce and where should I submit the documents?
If you don’t have any minor children together, you can file a joint application with the Civil Registry Office (DRATsS); the state fee is 0.5 of the non-taxable minimum. If you have children or there is a dispute over property, you must file a claim with the district court at the place of residence of the respondent.
How much does a divorce cost and how long does it take?
- Civil Registry Office (DRATsS): 1 month waiting period + 190 UAH state fee.
- Through the court: from 2 to 6 months; court fee — 992 UAH (as of 2025).
How can I claim child support and what amount is set by law?
You need to file either a lawsuit or an application for a court order. By law, the minimum guaranteed amount is 50% of the subsistence minimum for a child of the relevant age, and the court may set either a share of the payer’s income (up to 50%) or a fixed amount. The State Enforcement Service is responsible for compulsory collection of child support.
How is marital property divided in a divorce?
- Voluntarily — by signing a notarised prenuptial or property division agreement.
- By filing a lawsuit for division of property; the limitation period is 3 years from the moment you became aware that your rights were violated.
Can a child be taken abroad without the other parent’s permission?
In peacetime, a notarised consent from the other parent is required, except in the following cases:
- there is a court decision stating that the child lives with one parent;
- the other parent owes child support for 6+ months;
- the child is travelling for up to 90 days for medical treatment or study abroad, provided there are supporting documents.
What should I do if I can’t pay my loan during martial law?
Take advantage of the “loan holidays” provided under Law No. 2120-IX: the bank cannot charge penalties or fines and may not increase the interest rate until 30 days after martial law ends. Immediately submit an application for restructuring or deferment of payments and keep proof of force majeure (for example, a letter from the Chamber of Commerce and Industry).
Is it possible for an individual to declare bankruptcy and have their debts written off?
Yes. The Code of Bankruptcy Procedures allows a debtor with total debt of at least 180,000 UAH or a payment delay of more than 50 days to file an application with the commercial court. The procedure includes debt restructuring (for up to 5 years) or liquidation of assets. After the repayment plan is approved or the assets are sold, the remaining debt may be written off.
What should I do immediately after a traffic accident?
- Stop the car, switch on your hazard lights and place a warning triangle.
- Make sure any injured persons receive first aid; call emergency services at “102” (police) and “103” (ambulance).
- Document the scene (photos/videos, witness contacts), exchange contact details and insurance information, fill out a European Accident Statement (europrotocol) or wait for the police to arrive.
What should I do if the police want to search my home?
Make sure the investigator has a court warrant (either the original or an electronic copy with a QR code). Record the search on video, insist that two independent witnesses be present, and call your lawyer immediately. Without your lawyer, you have the right not to provide any explanations.
Do you provide assistance to Ukrainians abroad (refugees or military personnel on assignment)?
Yes.
How can I appeal a decision of the Pension Fund refusing to grant or recalculate a pension?
- Submit a written complaint to the Main Office of the Pension Fund of Ukraine within 30 days from the date you received the decision.
- If your complaint is rejected, file an administrative claim with the district administrative court; the court fee is 0.3 of the subsistence minimum.
